"My vision for our town is one of continuous improvement and
sustainable growth. I am particularly focused on neighborhood
infrastructure improvements, recognizing the need to reevaluate
and update our current designs to meet the demands of future
growth. Ensuring our infrastructure is resilient and capable of
supporting our community is paramount. Additionally, I am
committed to enhancing pedestrian safety and walkability by
fostering collaboration with transportation agencies to develop
pedestrian-friendly policies. Traffic has long been a challenge on
our island, and I believe innovative solutions can promote
walking and biking. thereby improving our quality of life.
Furthermore, I will advocate for responsible land use and
development policies that strike a balance between residential,
commercial, and tourism interests. Our island will inevitably
change, but it is crucial that we manage this change with
foresight and care, ensuring smart and sustainable growth."

Permitting Information Following Hurricane Milton
The Town of Fort Myers Beach began our damage assessment process following Hurricane Milton and would like to remind you that it is illegal to do work without a permit. We are working hard to ensure the permitting process is smooth for our residents! Due to this, the Town is waving residential trade permit fees, for drywall, for Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton damage! Permit fees will be waived for 30 days, from October 15 – November 13. Per FEMA regulations, even though the fee is waived, a permit is still required to be pulled.
Please see below for a list of items you do NOT need a permit for:
• Floor covering such as tile or carpet
• Minor cabinetry which does not include any electrical or plumbing fixtures
• Painting
• Portable heating or cooling appliances
Although you do not need to pull a permit for these items you will need to submit a cost backup worksheet. IT IS A FEMA REQUIREMENT THAT ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH ANY REPAIR OR IMPROVEMENT TO AN EXISTING STRUCTURE MUST HAVE A COST SHEET SUBMITTED REGARDLESS OF THE AMOUNT.
Cost backup worksheet is available for print (page 14 of 15): Residential-Application-Fillable-07-16-24 (fortmyersbeachfl.gov)

Exciting news for our Fort Myers Beach community!
Town of Fort Myers Beach has been awarded $13,018,597.90 from Lee County CDBG-DR!
Today, September 3, 2024, the Town of Fort Myers Beach was notified that the applications submitted to the Lee County Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Infrastructure and Public Facilities Programs has been awarded for a total of $13,018,597.90! These programs are part of the overall U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funding award to Lee County in the amount of $1.1 billion to support longāterm recovery efforts following Hurricane Ian.
Funding will go toward two projects: North (West) Island Water Tower and Facility and Parks and Recreation Projects. The Parks and Recreation Projects include Old San Carlos & Times Square Lighting Projects, Bay Oaks Community Pool Project, and Newton Park Beach Facility. Through these programs, the Town seeks to create improvements for the entire community in a continued effort toward recovery.
The Infrastructure and Public Facilities Programs are competitive programs available to municipalities within Lee County. The Town has already received funding through the Recovery and Resiliency Planning block, and we continue to submit applications in an effort to secure more funding. All projects under these programs must meet a HUD National Objective as outlined by Lee County in the Action Plan.
The Town of Fort Myers Beach would like to thank Lee County for their continued support of the Town through our Hurricane Ian recovery process. These projects play a vital part in our build-back efforts, and we are excited to be one step closer to recovery.
